This Miami museum is launching free film screenings on the water

Miami is no stranger to the floating cinema. We’ve seen our share of boat-in moviesSuper Bowl watch parties on the sandbar and the occasional 4/20-themed flick on the beach. This fall, the trend gets the family-friendly treatment courtesy of the Pérez Art Museum Miami, which introduces Floating Films on the Bay this fall. The free, monthly movie series will begin screenings this October and run through December—when the weather is finally cool enough to do anything outdoors.

Ballyhoo Media investing $100,000 in billboard advertising grants to local small businesses

Ballyhoo Media, a locally-owned water-based advertising agency, is proud to announce its new Growing Together grant to support and empower local companies. As part of this program, Ballyhoo Media will provide four weeks of free advertising to small businesses in the Aventura, Bal Harbor, Dania Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Golden Beach, Hallandale Beach, Haulover Beach, Hollywood Beach, Miami Beach, Sunny Isles, and Surfside areas.

Advertising boat captains rescue woman after her dog knocks her into Miami River on Brickell Key

MIAMI (WSVN) – Two crew members from a Ballyhoo Media advertising boat helped pull a woman to safety on Brickell Key after she was knocked into the water by her dog.

The captains spoke to 7News on Friday afternoon, just hours after the rescue.

Perez Art Museum launches floating cinema experience

A floating cinema is exactly what it sounds like. Helen Roldan: “It’s a movie shown on our boats. They’re 72-foot long boats with 60-foot screens, and so we share movies on those screens, open to the public, but you know, on the water.” A water way to watch a movie. Ballyhoo Media and the Perez Art Museum Miami loved the idea so much they created “Floating Films on the Bay.”

Nate Shapiro and his brother Adam spent their summers working as umbrella boys in Ocean City, Maryland and dreamed about owning a business together related to the beach. In 2011, the concept of Ballyhoo was born.
