Creating ripples of change

Our company was founded by our love for the water and an unwavering dedication to the community.

We know that a healthy local environment ‘s impact extends far beyond its immediate boundaries, radiating through the community and economy. By recognizing the interconnectedness between the environment, the community, and the economy, we can create a flourishing and sustainable future for all.  When we started our company, we made a 10% for the Water pledge, in which we donate 10% of all advertising space for environmental groups. This initial commitment evolved into three impactful community-based programs: the Blue Beacon Program, the C-Program, and the R.E.E.F Program.

Blue Beacon Program

Blue Beacon is our commitment to champion environmental technologies and initiatives. This program aims to achieve environmental tech implementation, carbon offsetting, water testing, host clean-ups, and more. Our most recent partnership with The International SeaKeepers Society for Seabed 2030, an ambitious global endeavor to map the ocean floor by 2030.

C-Program

The C-Program (get it?) is our commitment to use the coast as a tool to interconnect our coastal communities. We actively partner with nonprofits, environmental groups, and local government agencies to amplify their messaging. In addition to public service campaigns against offshore drilling, shark finning, littering, and more, we also promote local events and programs in South Florida.

R.E.E.F Program

R.E.E.F is all about our community! At every event we host, Ballyhoo prioritizes waterway preservation, conservation, and sustainability. We curate South Florida's largest pop-up events cost-effectively through our ad-supported platform. Many times these events are free or at a low cost to the public. Using our floating screens, we host memorable watch parties, movie nights, live concerts, and more. These events aim to strengthen the community-environment bond.

10% For the Water

Just like the name implies, this program is our commitment to donating space to environmentally driven nonprofits and related campaigns. Together, we can make a difference with public messaging by amplifying the voices of those making the biggest impact to our beloved waterways.

Blue Beacon Program - Seabed 2030

The science we need for the ocean we want

Challenge:

  • Limited knowledge of the world’s ocean floor with only 25% accurately mapped.

  • Lack of understanding of ocean circulation patterns, climate and weather conditions, and underwater geo-hazards.

Solution:

  • Joined the Seabed 2030 project, an international initiative led by the Nippon Foundation and GEBCO.

  • Actively contributed to mapping efforts, utilizing resources, expertise, and technological capabilities.

  • Formed a partnership with The International SeaKeepers Society to enhance local mapping efforts.

Impact:

  • Increased percentage of accurately mapped ocean floor areas, providing invaluable data for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders.

  • Promoted awareness of ocean health and sustainability, fostering a sense of stewardship within the community.

  • Contributing to global mapping efforts, facilitating informed decision-making and sustainable practices for the benefit of future generations.

R.E.E.F Program - Creating Sustainable Events

2022 World Cup Watch Party

Challenge: The Everglades ecosystem serves as a vital source of freshwater for millions of residents in South Florida. However, a survey conducted in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties revealed that 95% of residents were unaware of the fact that their drinking water comes from the Everglades.

Idea: To address this challenge, The Everglades Foundation launched the “Your Water Comes from the Everglades” education campaign, using Ballyhoo Media’s floating billboards. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among South Florida residents about the source of their freshwater and the essential role of the Everglades ecosystem in providing clean water.
